NYC art map and recs, 10/6/25 - 10/12/25
Hi folks! I’ve now been through a cycle of each of the major gallery neighborhoods in NYC since Fall season kicked off so I did a multi-neighborhood “leftovers” crawl — these are always a bit of a wildcard, with things that are a bit second-tier in my mind, and outer or upper parts of neighborhoods I previously didn’t have time to go to. It’s that sort of weird time that’s the start of the end of the first Fall exhibition cycle — most but not all galleries wait until after the major fairs in Europe to open their next round of major exhibitions, though there’s still quite a bit happening this week and next!
There are a TON of artist talks this week, particularly at galleries — these usually don’t require RSVP and I try my best to indicate when they do. Red Hook Open Studios also takes place this weekend, and kicks of South Brooklyn Fall open studio season, with Gowanus Open Studios and Sunset Park Open Studios next weekend.
If you find my work useful and you’d like to support it, consider becoming a paid subscriber — sliding scale subscription links are available here:
$5/month (or $50/year)
$4/month (or $40/year)
$3/month (or $30/year)
$2/month (or $20/year)
Openings — All exhibition openings are 6pm - 8pm unless otherwise noted — but I do recommend double checking the galleries’ websites / Instagrams before going anywhere!
