NYC art map and recs, 7/8/25 - 7/13/25
Hi folks! I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend — we are back in full (Summer) art swing with an improbably high number of exhibitions opening this week once again. Last major round before the Fall for real this time?! It’s now the time of year where most but not all galleries are not open on the weekends, with many also closing early on Fridays, so definitely check before going out, and go on a weekday if possible.
I went to Jack Whitten: The Messenger at MoMA for the second time over the weekend, and it was great to re-visit and take better images — I’ve found that sometimes when I’m really into an exhibition, I’m too distracted by the work to document well. It’s the best exhibition MoMA has done in years, and I can’t recommend highly enough to check it out if you haven’t yet.
If you find my work useful and you’d like to support it, consider becoming a paid subscriber — sliding scale subscription links are available here:
$5/month (or $50/year)
$4/month (or $40/year)
$3/month (or $30/year)
$2/month (or $20/year)
Openings — All exhibition openings are 6pm - 8pm unless otherwise noted — but I do recommend double checking the galleries’ websites / Instagrams before going anywhere!
